Jabsco Compact vs. Regular Bowl

I have had numerous guests comment that my Jabsco manual "compact" toilet bowl is uncomfortably small.  I own a 1993 Catalina 36 and was wondering if anybody has been able to install the larger "regular" sized Jabsco manual toilet bowl without modification.  I know the base and pump are the same, I'm  just wondering if it will fit in the same space and bolt into the same holes as the smaller model.  Thanks a bunch--Joel

Does that mean that in addition to having the same mounting holes, does your reply also mean that there is nothing in the way of the bigger toilet preventing me from using the same month holes? Also, have you used both bowls in that space?  If so, what are your thoughts on the regular size toilet as compared to the compact toilet on a Catalina 36?  Is the larger bowl the better setup of the two in your opinion? Thanks--JS

Our boat had the Jabsco head with smaller compact bowl when we purchased it. After the first season I replaced the holding tank, head and hoses due to odors and the head being in need of a rebuild. Decided to buy the same model Jabsco with the larger regular size bowl not knowing if it would fit without drilling new mounting holes but it would be close. Was happy to discover that the new larger bowl did fit in the same holes with clearance behind the unit and bulkhead. Without going into detail the larger bowl is more comfortable and a better option IMHO.  I'll be at the boat this weekend and will try to remember to get a couple pictures.

Picture shows larger bowl mounted with original holes. Plenty of clearance.

Hi Joel,
If you are purchasing a new head I'd suggest you stay away from Jabsco and go with Raritan.  I installed
a new Jabsco toilet two years ago and I've replaced the pump cylinder assembly three times since due to cracks at the pump cylinder assembly flange. I noticed new cracks developing when I was cleaning last weekend. This time I'm going to replace the toilet with a Raritan.
