Engine Room Insulation

Hello 36'ers
Its time to replace the engine room insulation and I have searched the forums and cannot find any articles relating to this exercise. I am sure someone has "been there done that". I have "googled it" and found places that sell the insulation and provide installation instructions.
Where did you get your insulation and how did the installation go?
the insulation on my engine cover has seen its last days. I'll be down at the boat this afternoon and will take pics of the old stuff and the new stuff going in when I figure out who to buy it from.
thanks in advance

Saildad,

A few years ago while at the Miami, boat show I spoke with technicians from "Soundown" a company specializing in sound and fire retardant foam panel covering.

There is quite a bit of science behind the sound and fire retardant material, I was very impressed.

I purchased enough material to do my engine cover and rear cabin engine cover. It was straight forward installation with materials suggested and provided by the company.

I would suggest you give them a call and tell what you want to do.  They are very experienced and helpful.

Good sound control and fire retardant is not cheap, but the material exceeded my expectations and I would buy it again without hesitation.

thank you very much for the response!
That is good news! that is the brand I purchased from defender marine. It comes as a kit. I have included a "before" pic. It is beyond the time for replacement. I will be down at the dock this weekend installing the new insulation.

Hi Capt Bill
Do you have any "after installation" photos of your engine cover insulation?
Can you provide the Defender catalog number of what you ordered, so I can do the same?
Thank you

Capt Bill & Bill Matley, I am following this post as well - as this is an upcoming project on our C36 Would you mind posting the product numbers from Defender & Soundown. I think I've found both products but wanted to compare reviews. Also if you have any "after" pictures of your projects or tips on how to complete it would be great to hear those as well. Thanks in advance!
