Pulled the 1994 MK I for winter storage and noted some minor weeping of water at the strut to hull interface when checking the shaft - cutless bearing play. The strut movement is imperceptabile except very minor oozing of water at the strut to hull when forcing the strut side to side. Removed the center water tank in the aft cabin and found a fiberglassed area that looks like a " hump" with four bolt-washer-nuts. Are there any drawings that detail the strut installation especially that show if filler or fiberglass was used to fill the area below the hump to bottom of hull ? The top of the bolt-washer-nuts are glassed over with bedding ( 5200 ? ) added. Any ideas: simply remove nuts and washer, rebed and torque the nuts to xxx ft. lbs ? If the majority of material below the hump is fill I am considering drilling some holes and injecting epoxy to further stabilize the strut.
Hi,
Hereby the prop-strut installation. Hope it helps.
I use to fill the gap between strut and hull with Sika, each time the boat is on the hard.
