I have a C36 Mk. 1 The boot area is leaking. See the photos.The boot is cracked and deteriorating due to age, U/V. What is the best way of dealing with this?

Had this problem as well. Last winter I rewrapped with mastboot tape. That didn't stop the leaks. A month ago, I unbolted and removed the collar and scraped off all the old sealant, and rebedded under the collar and bolts with butyl tape, and then rewrapped again with mastboot tape. That seems to have cured it.

I found one of these on EBay at a reasonable price about 4 years ago. Works great. I used it to replace the original as you have shown, Prior to that the boatyard I keep the boat in had used a rubber tube which fit tight on the mast and I got tired of fighting to stretch it over the partner on the deck. I used mast boot tape on the top and when unclamped at the bottom it goes with the mast for winter storage....and right back on in the spring on launch. Doesn't show any UV damage yet and it is still flexible. Also no leaks at this joint.
