Why can't non-members post as well? I can post on the 34 blog by just registering. I don't have to be a member.
I'm sure others have useful contributions to topics and If they are willing to spend the time I would like to hear them. If prospective buyers have questions would like to answer them.
We should block content on the site to members only. The blog should be open.
Is there a technical, economic, resource issue here I don't understand causing us to be restrictive?
The association was very pleasurable with the blog and emails. I understood the issue with the emails and supported discontinuing them always thinking the blog would be a replacement. However we keep taking steps that are keeping the blog from being a replacement and I think the quality has deteriorated.

It is not to anyone's benefit if membership suffers and it appears it is.

Hi Enrique,

Anyone can sign up for a free 30-day trial membership which allows them to post. If they find value we hope they will support the association with $30 a year. Building and maintaining the website costs money. If no one pays to join because everything they need is available for free, how do we pay to keep the site running?

As far as memberships go, we have had exactly 30 paid memberships over the past calendar month, as compared to 14 in the same period last year.

Hi Nick

If the only value a member sees to membership is a limited access forum I would not join.  The openness of opinions is part of the value proposition as well as the accumulations of articles, upgrades, maintenance suggestions, manuals, pictures, etc., etc

it just so happens by accident I'm moored in Block Island, RI next to Five C's, Chuck Couture Captain.  Chuck is prior C36 owner with lots of experience.  Two years ago he upgraded to a C38.  He wants to keep in touch with his C36 group but is confused with what is happening with the forum.  He's not going to get a membership yet if he chooses to make them his contributions would be appreciated.

As a paid member, I vote for the access exactly as it was.  Put up a poll and you'll find no support for this policy.  We only lose by blocking people from posting.  I have found great material on the 30, 34, 355, 42 Catalina websites.  There's a lot of cross-over and I'm not paying to join all of them to post.

I was shocked when I logged in today, the site looks a million times better.

Thanks to all for your feedback.

The forums are now fully open to all registered users of the site. (Except the Association Discussion forums, which are restricted to Association Members).
