Help, exhaust riser

Dear all,

New in the association, I need your help. Owner of a C36 hull 1122 equipped with a Universal M35 (1991) a need to replace exhaust riser. At Catalina direct they are unable to advice with the right model.

Catalina yard is not answering to mails wrote to Kent or parts...

I will say mine looks like this one. But before dismounting the old one I will prefer to have the new one on hand.

thanks in advance for your help.

eladio, eureka II from the Mediterranean.

best regards,

You should go to Catalina Direct. Actually Kent works for Catalina Direct now. They have several versions and I believe dimensions to assist. I replaced mine about 3 years ago

Thanks Gary,

Following your advice, I get in contact with Kent at Catalina direct. I just received all needed information from him.

Great!

Best regards,

I just replaced mine this past weekend with 1 1/4" black iron pipe. I have the M25XP engine, so it may be different, but I bought the flange and hump hose at Catalina Direct and the Water Injection Nipple (Part #299693) at Discount Marine.  I also bought exhaust heat shielding tape at my local auto supply store and flexible gasket sealer off eBay.

The question is then if 1.25" (or 3.175cm) black iron pipe is common in the Mediterranean. If it is, just buy it at the plumbing supply store, and buy more sizes than you'll need. I ended up using one street elbow, two 90 degree elbows, one union, one 5 inch nipple, one 3.5 inch nipple, and one 3 inch nipple.

If you go with the black iron, try and avoid the stuff made in China. It doesn't last.

My .02 cents.

Most marine suppliers also list SS pipe fittings as well that way you can get the nice SS version at a little more than the black iron model.   DANGER  Avoid Galvanized..
