Bell housing

The pressure plate went out on my boat, and after removing the bell housing and transmission to replace it, we found a large crack in the housing. I'm looking for a replace ment ......does anyone have a source for such parts? I have the M25 Universal and Hurth transmission. We are located in Seattle, but obviously the housing could be shipped from outside the area.

Thanks,

I think you mean 'damper plate', as there is no pressure plate (like you'd find a part of an automotive dry clutch assembly). If you search the forums for 'damper plate', you'll find a number of threads on the subject.

As for the crack in the bell housing, could it be welded? Would have to be cheaper than a new housing.

I've heard it called several names, damper plate, pressure plate, flex plate, and a couple of names I shouldn't post here...

The bell housing is a cast piece. Usually welding it will cause it to warp. The crack extends almost completely from mount to mount, so it is pretty extensive. I may try the weld if I can't find a replacement piece.

Go up to Harbor Marine in Everett. Wa Mikes the best transmission guy around had them rebuilt my 50 and got a new damper plate. They are just past the naval station
