Boy, it has been waaay to long since I have had the boat out. Spent the night on Saturday, got up early to do chores on the boat. Wash down, bottom scrub and then dove into some furler maintenance. I unfurled the jib and was shocked to see green algae or mold in the folds of the jib.
I dropped the jib and filled the cockpit with soap, clorox and water. I found the caps off of WD40 cans were a perfect fit as stoppers in the scuppers. I filled the cockpit to just below the ports in the aft cabin and threw the sail in and danced on it for about fifteen minutes. My dock mates I am sure thought I really had a grove on, crazy old bastard dancing in the cockpit by himself. The transom sits a bit lower with eight inches of water in the cockpit. This is a trick only MK1 boats can do, how do you open transom guys wash your sails? I rinsed the sail and rehung it to dry and it is white again.

The good news is no water went to the bilge, I had been concerned that the pedistal may leak as I filled the cockpit.
