Does anyone know the model number of the 51 Amp Prestolite alternator installed on th M35A engine? I am trying to find a schematic for the alternator.
Thanks,
Dave

Dave, we kept our original alternator for a spare and I have it home here with all the other spares. If no one else gets it sooner I'll take a look at it in the morning when there's some light and see if I can find a Model #. Our boats are pretty close together number wise and the alternator that was on it looks original but may not be.
I vaguely recall looking for a model number when I took it off but couldn't find it. All the Prestolite 8MR series alternators with internal regulators are pretty much wired the same way. Unless you are looking for an schematic of the inside of the alternator itself?
The 8MR might be all I need to find what I am looking for on the prestolite website.
Thanks,
Dave

I just had a look at it and the only number on it shows up as the regulator not the alternator. This page lists all the 8MR series.

The 8MR2091KSS looks closest to what I have but there's a pile of 51 amp ones in there. Some of them use metric sized bolt holes and I think mine does since the bolts in it are all metric.
There was a tag on it that was really faded out but I was able to raise a number off it, the number is 8EM2017KA. Prestolite's website shows it as discontinued and replaced by the 8MR2091KSS.
Thanks, I appreciate the help.
I am working on installing a Sterling Digital regulator, which claims to "work with" this alternator, but I am finding that "works with" really means, "works with - if you are willing to rewire the alternator"
