Fuel treatment...Biobor vs Fuel Prep ?

Just had my fuel polished. The guy said to use Fuel Prep in my diesel fuel. I had been using Biobor. He said my fuel looked OK, but had "residue" on the tank bottom. Biobor has Mil Spec features specifically to kill algea and prevent filter clogging. Fuel Prep claims it eliminates "bacterial and fungi growth" but not algea. Fuel Prep enhances engine performance..... I'm so confused....Help !

I've been using Biobor JF + StarTron Diesel mixed 1:1 based on the testing from this Practical Sailor article.

" Star Tron Diesel + Biobor JF

A top performer in anticorrosion tests and anti-aging tests, Star Tron Diesel also performed well when used in combination with Biobor JF. In biocide testing trials (Star Tron is not marketed as a biocide), it showed properties that complimented Biobor JF (killed different strains), making the pair a powerful one-two punch.

Bottom line: While this blend requires adding two products, based on our testing, it is the Best Choice overall. "

I also use startron and biobor - each at the recommended strength...
