Hi,
The last couple of times I've used the engine I've notice a reddy brown liquid running out from under the companionway engine cover. After removing it I've noticed that this reddy brown liquid is on the floor in front of the engine and sprayed to the starboard side - but there is nothing on the engine cover either in front on the port side. See attached photos.
This liquid only appears when running the engine. When heading out I noticed it, cleaned it up while sailing with no more liquid, and then more had appeared after using the engine to head back in.
It's not coolant liquid as that it green.
Any ideas as to what it could be?
Thanks

I would first check for leaks at the seawater pump while the engine is running. Next I would check the muffler and the exhaust riser.

Best guess is that you have a Sherwood sea water pump and it's coming out of the weep holes, dripping onto the crank pulley, and getting slung about by the belt. The pump body is iron, so this accounts for the red color. Means that it's time to replace the seals.

If you have to rebuild the Sherwood pump look at the oberdorfer 202m=908 pump. It is a direct replacement and 100 time easier to change the impeller

Likely a leak in the raw water pump. See my article in the Maintenance Library for more information. I believe that you must be a paid up Member (capital M) of the C36IA to access this valuable library.

Thanks for all the advice. Ran the engine in fast neutral at the dock and saw water coming out of the weep holes on the raw water pump. So time to change it.
