Best option for windlass replacement of Maxwell 500?

Hi all,

I'm getting tired of strugglying with my old Maxwell 500 windlass, and am considering upgrading.  Does anyone have any suggestions for a new brand/model/etc that's a good balance of cost/function?

I'm sure there are other posts along these lines somewhere in here, but the search funcion on the new site here doesn't seem to work terribly well...

Thanks for any input!

I just installed a Maxwell Rc10-8 on my Mk 1 this spring. I am very pleased with it. I believe it was about $1600 at Defender during their spring sale.

I was thinking of swapping out my Maxwell 500. Called the Maxwell rep, and he recommened the VW 10-8 for my mk11. I wanted a windless that used a chain rope spice chain wheel. It was around 1600/1700 bucks at defender. He said it wasn't a bolt in replacement but was not too hard to fit. I was to use 5/8 rode and 5/16 bbb chain.
