I recently bought a used full batten mainsail. Problem is it did not come with the battens. Looks like they maybe 5/8 inch anyone know or can point me in the right direction?
Thanks

I have two Mains and they both have different size battens. I suggest if you are in doubt about the size bring the sail to a sail maker and buy the battens from him.

Yes it is.

Our boat has the original Catalina Sails main, I measured the width of a batten and it is 1 5/8" wide. Our hull number is close to what's on that sail but that means little. Best to take it to a sailmaker if in doubt, you'll need to get the lengths anyway.
We had to replace one batten on our last boat, the top one and the shortest, found it to be pretty pricey for what looks like a strip of plastic with a couple of soft ends on it. They were much smaller than this boat's battens but these are much better secured than the other one's were.
Thanks, I miss typed 1-5/8". were your new battens tapered ie thicker at one end than the other? I also read that the battens need to be adjusted in the pocket depending on wind condition... I didn't know that.

Ours are the same throughout their length. There's no way to adjust the battens in this sail, they're either in and locked with two overlapping layers of velcro or they're not. They fill the entire batten pocket from end to end.
I like to sail a lot but I'm not into making minute adjustments in the sails so I doubt I would ever adjust them even if I could.
Thanks everyone, I think I have the information I needed.
