hull deadlights

has anyone installed hull deadlights in the vberth area similar to the salonand aft berth stock ones?

hello Larry we are looking at mk ll 36s from 2000 on we have owned a 22 27 and currently a 30 i have sent in my appliction and draft for membership just thought i would try the forum as i have had that question about vberth hull dedlights for a while

I don't recall seeing any threads here about people adding them. I'm not a big fan of hacking big holes in the hull. However, I can see where portlights in the V berth would be pretty cool. Taking it a step further, is it possible to add OPENING ports in the V berth hull sides? It would be great for ventilation. Not sure about the whole structural/hull flex issues, however.

We had a thread on the Forum here discussing this topic within the past year or so. If I recall correctly, the general consensus was that for structural reasons, and for the liklihood of water ingress in a blue water over-the-bow situation, it wasn't a good idea. Up front is where your eally need structural integrity when in a seaway, and when pounding to windward as we all sometimes must do that power of the seas impacting the bow is tremendous. I'm not an engineer, but my 'intuition' would lead me to avoid this otherwise fine idea.
