Engine Coolant & Hump Hose

I removed the exhaust pipe from the rear of the engine to replace the black muffler hose with the blue hump hose. I now need to replace the gasket and reinstall the exhaust pipe. When I disconnected it, water flowed out. Was this just trapped seawater, engine coolant or both? The mounting flange on the rear of the motor appears to have two passage ways and I'm not sure if coolant as well as seawater passes through the exhaust pipe.
Thanks for the help.

The top opening is exhaust gas, the bottom is your fresh water coolant. That's why it's so important to be very careful replacing the new gasket when you reassemble it.

Sid, if it's not too late to ask...could you post a few photos of what you find there? Thanks.

Fresh water as in closed circuit engine coolant or salt water from the cooling water intake seacock?

Sid,
The water that Stu mentioned in the lower passages is your antifreeze mixture (fresh water), and not sea water (raw water).

Thanks. I wasn't sure if it was the antifreeze or seawater when I took it off. I know the seawater will just fill back up when I restart but the antifreeze/freshwater must be replaced. Just wanted to make sure I take everything to the boat when I go to reinstall.
