I was checking out the water coming from under my rear water tank and discovered what looks like part of the bilge but does not seem to be connected. This is behind where the skeg bolts on and collects any water entering from the lazarette area. Did Catalina not put a drain here? Is there a fix for this? I took out almost a gallon of water.

Only way to drain from there would be straight down - not a good option! Got to suck it out with a shop vac every now and then. Should be possible to get that area totally dry with a bit of effort sealing around fittings.

Someone in our group was fighting a leak in this area in the last six months as I recall. The area would stay dry at the dock but when motoring the stern would squat and they would have a leak where the skeg is attached to the hull. His boat had suffered some damage in this area and it had been repaired.
Do you think water is just collecting there and not draining back to the bilge?
This is what you post suggests.

The area is about 4 to 6" deep and it abuts up to the area where the skeg attaches. Evidentially it just overflows when too much water comes in. I thought at first the water was coming from a leak in the water tank, like the other person had, from the skeg bolts wearing a hole in the tank. Now I know my tank is ok I will try to minimize the water intrusion and as suggested suck it out every so often.

One thing I do is after I suck it out I occasionally throw a capful of bleach in the skeg cavity. This way when it does fill up again I don't get yucky stagnant smelling water in there if I don't get to it right away. Maybe not a big deal to some but on my boat the furnace draws air from inside the lazarette and I want to keep smells down.
