Got an email tofday pointing to a Sail Magazine article: http://www.sailmagazine.com/boatworks/boatworks-tip-rope-caulk-bedding
Seems like rope caulk bedding might be useful alternative to butyl tape, and at some savings. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I've not used it, but here's a thread on it: http://www.sailnet.com/forums/gear-maintenance/64902-butyl-tape-%3D-rope...

Thanks for the info. I'll stick with the butyl tape and MaineSail's method!
