Faulty ground connection to your water heater?
Something causing your white/neutral line to have voltage on it when you turn on the w/h.
My Reverse Polarity light is wired between Wht/neut and ground. It will only light if that neutral gets significant voltage on it.
I just connected up my new w/h after rewiring the whole boat this winter. As soon as I turned it on, it kept tripping the new GFI circuit breaker/outlet. I finally realized that the w/h was still wired as original, right off the mains breaker, instead of AFTER the GFI c/b. Those GFIs are smart! It knew something was not wired to it, and tripped.
My bet is on your w/h ground. You need to get in and feel around w/ your volmeter. Blk=120 or 240, White= 1v or less, Green= 0v

It is NOT an issue unless you have used a portable RP tester which showed a fault.
The reason is that a large load, like the heater or a 1500W space heater will essentially overwhelm the resistor in the RP light.
If you'r marina power was fine until you turned it on, it is not an issue.
Blue Sea has a good writeup on this issue in their technical documents.

Hi
Thanks guys for the comments
I was connected to the marina power for 2 days with no issues, it was only when I connected the water heater that the light went ON.
Anyway for safety reasons I have decided to get an electrician to check it out, I bought the boat over a year ago but never tried to use the water heater before....
Nonetheless I'll read up on what 'Blue Sea' posted

I am having a similar issue with that light coming on and not using the water heater. I recently upgraded the radar and wind meter though. Also did some modifications to clean up the DC wiring in the power panel by adding another terminal block. Can anyone direct me to this write up by Blue Sea?
