Replacing thermostat for Adler-Barbour 12V Fridge

For sake of arugment, assume I am correct when I conclude that my fridge problem (frequent on-off cycling of compressor which stops when the thermostat is bypassed) is from a faulty thermostat on my Adler-Barbour fridge. My question is - Are 12V refridgerator thermostats generic so any new thermostat will do or do I need to search out one specific to this brand of refridgerator (about which I seem to be having trouble finding any info)?

I replaced mine last summer, after breaking the sensor tube scraping ice a bit too enthusiastically. I found the part via a google search, but don't recall the vendor. If I can find the order, I'll update my post with that info.

Try WAECO in your search, they changed the Adler Barbour name when they bought it a few years ago. Used to be great guys in the office and shop back east, don't know if they're still around. You could also check your local boat fridge guys, my local rep is a wonderful guy here in SF Bay Area, Carl Anderson. http://c34.org/bbs/index.php/topic,1947.0.html
