After 12 seasons on our MKII, the exhaust host is showing cracks on the outer layer so it's time for replacement. For the Hose - What diameter and about how long? From who m did you order it?
Anything tricky or what did you learn? It "seems" pretty straight forward but boat projects have a way of making Murphy look like an optimist.

Hi there
We replaced ours locally when we noticed the cracks. Not sure of the size but we took the chance to add a 50mm shut off valve near the transom so we can shut off the exhaust if using a drogue (to prevent water being forced into the system) in a storm.
I've also thought to shut off the valve when leaving the boat on a mooring for months at a time, to keep salty air out of the engine - anyone have ideas on whether this is worthwhile?

The size of the hose should be printed in large letters on the hose itself. IRRC it's 1 /58".
As far as shutoff valves go, it may be a good idea in following seas, but the water will only go into the muffler. That's what the anti-siphon valve on the water line from the HX to the exhaust riser nipple is for. That anti-siphon needs to be serviced every once in a while.
As far as salty air out of the engine is concerned, I think not. That salty water is sitting in the muffler anyway. What purpose would it serve?
