Hi,
Went to commission my fridge for the first time this season and found the insulation block on the underside of the lid popped up with two of the screws popped out. I assume water got in somehow and froze. Looks like it was put on with some kind of sealant and the screws.I figure I have to cut off the rest of the sealant and redo it but wanted to check with everyone first so I don't mess it up more.
Thanks,
Larry

Larry,
I'm of the opinion that these are designed to keep the majority of cooler air in our boxes lower. I'm still experimenting with mine to configure something more effective. To answer your question it appeared they just used silicone and the screws to hold in place.

I had the same thing over last winter. Something to look at is take the insulation off of the board. I found that the urethane had expanded and pushed away. I took a block plane and trimmed the foam back so that the shell could be brought back to the board and be re-sealed. As for the sealant, I think I just used a silicone based goop and re-attached with the original screws.
