Parts for old Lewmar 48ST Wave Grip

Anyone have any idea where I might find washers for the old Wave Grip 48ST winches? Lewmar says they're not made anymore and I can't find them on any third-party vendor anywhere. The part numbers are 1300/22 and 1264/7. Is it ok to replace them with stainless washers of the same size?

 Ryan; First welcome to the Forum ! As you have already found out;

Wavegrip Self-Tailing Winches were produced between 1983-1991 (approx.) and are identified by 4 metric cross head screws securing the top cap. They also have fixed jaws.  Please note that some winch sizes have only a limited range of spares available.Wavegrip winches manufactured prior to 1983 were made to imperial dimensions and parts are no longer available.
I called a shop here in Tampa that deals with winch rebuilding.  He suggested that you take an exsisting washer to a machine shop and ask the guy to knock out a few for you since the imperial thickness will be non standard. On the other hand, you could try a standard washer and see how it goes.
Regrets,
Bill

Ryan;
There is a guy over on The Sailboat Swap Shop on Facebook looking to get rid of some old winches. Claims he has nearly 600. Perhaps you should send and inquiry.

Have somewhere in the vicinity of 600 winches of varying size, material and age. Self tailing or not, one or two speed, All functional.

Disassembled, cleaned, and regreased/oiled. (Not rebuilt) many come with original handles.

Prices for non self tailing one/two speed winches are pretty reasonable.

ST’s will be priced to used market value OBO.
