I recently replaced the Jabsco Sensor-Max 17 31755 potable water pump that appears to be the original. At the time I switched to a Shurflo AquaKing II 4138-111-E65 as a Jabsco wasn't availble. The Jabsco had a separate electronic filter labeled EMI filter attached to the pumps 3 wires coming out. The new Shurflo did'nt come with a noise filter and only had 2 wires out of the pump, so this EMI box was not installed with the pump. Does anyone know the history of this box being attached to the potable water pump?
I don't see any issues on the forum with this spike issue, but about 1 out of 10 times the pump turns on, the radio onboard has a loud crack in the speakers and the head unit restarts. Its a Fusion radio. I have tried a simple RF choke on the radio and that does nothing.
Do I need to install this old EMI box to the new pump and if so how do I handle the 3 wires when only 2 wires come out of the new pump?
The only other Marine Surge protection device I can find is made by SeaChoice. It is installed inline between the battery and the pump.
Thanks!
