I have a '99 and am located in SF Bay area. My windlass (and I understand others on the 36) has a broken chain guide on the inside. This is the thin piece of metal that guides the rode around the drum and into the locker. Since the guide is broken off the chain jams and its very difficult to pull free.
Does anyone out there have an simple fix? Should I replace it with a newer model? If so...which one.
Also, wondering if it can easily be repaired...is there a way I can wire it to use a remote control. I often single hand and find anchoring a challenge in close quarters. Really want an EASY and reliable anchoring system. Help!!
What windlass is it?
