Hi all,
Has anyone here ever bought a new sail from National Sail Supply? They've got a storm jib option for our boats that goes over the furled headsail. Sounds a bit bizarre:
"The modified storm jibs have a sleeve installed along the luff with hanks installed along the length of it. The sleeve wraps around the furled headsail and the hanks snap into grommets along the luff."

Just wondering if anyone has any comments on the quality of their sails at all.
Thx,
J

I bought a 135 Genoa from made by Rolly Tasker in Thailand where NSS source their sails from. It was much cheaper than any other sailmakers and I have been extremely happy with quality and design. American sail cloth, Foam luff for roller reef etc etc. Got me home in 40 knots on the nose down here last week if that's any recommendation.

Josh, It's not an unknown design. ATN has a similar product.

I can tell you this they are made offshore and for the most part you are getting what you pay for. My first shoot was a rolly tasker and was very competitively priced and quality was ok. What I didn't know at the time was it was only a 170% shoot and not a 185 (that everyone else was quoting me) which was reflected in the lower price. I now work for Mack Sails in Florida and over the last eight years have a much better understanding of sailmaking and design. I have sold a ton of sails, rigging, retention systems and refrigeration to C36 members over that time and I can surely say or prices were a better value and price. I give special C36 pricing and we provide top of the line products but mostly service. Have a problem with a offshore sail and you are offshore with the service. Email me direct at chiclasser1@yahoo.com and let me give you a quote, nothing to loose and a lot to gain. I can assure you that you'll be happy with the price and happier with the service our Florida Loft provides. All sails, are made in the USA and support American families.

Great, thanks all!
While shopping, I happened to check craigslist, and found someone local that was selling an unused ATN gale sail for $500, so snapped that up instead. Will keep the rest of this advice in mind for down the road when the main and jib start to show their age...
