On my recently purchased 1989 Catalina 36, I want to swap the port and starboard halyard turning blocks so that the 3-sheave block is on the starboard side. There is room for the block but no hole drilled for the third sheave. My understanding is that Catalina embedded aluminum plates under where much of the deck hardware can be mounted. Is that the case for this location? If so, should I drill and then tap the aluminum plate to accept the machine screw that goes through the sheave?
