looking for replacement motor mounts for a 35A universal engine.
Problem: replaced prop 2 seasons ago with a max prop three blade pitched at 18 degrees as per pyi
the boat has a drip less shaft seal, now at higher rpm's 2800 the engine moved forward enough on the mounts to break the forward seal and water comes in the boat.
Tried solutions:
1. Re pitched prop to make sure 18 degrees, Yes
2. Applied more pressure on forward shaft lock on seal, yes (feel to tight now)
Now thinking 20 year motor mounts are toast and not stiff enough to stabilize engine under load, so replacement are in order. Ideas???
Looking for a suggestion on new mounts and suppliers. Wouldn't mind a stiffer mount if possible.

I have spent some time searching the archives on this site and they talk about 4" and 5" mounts. Went to the boat to take a look and mine seem to be both. There is a plate mounted to the stringer with 5" mounting holes, but on the plate there is a stud welded to it that the engine mount seems to mount to. The distance between that stud and the back hole if the plate is about 4". Going to attempt to attach some photos. If in fact that is how my boat is set up, going to look at the vetus k75 or 100 mounts.
replaced all 4 motor mounts with Vetus K100 mounts. Did the job, when removed they were toast. Everyone I talked to said, 20 years way too long to eclectic a motor mount to last. I guess they were right!!!
Hi, Chic. Can you describe a bit what was wrong with the old mounts? What did they look like such that you knew they were "toast"? Reason I ask is that mine are 30 years old (I assume), look fine to me and I have no similar issues with the engine.
