MKI forward thru hulls

I have a thru hull in the head section of my MKI that is loose....These appear to be a pipe nipple glassed into the hull, not a conventional type. Has anyone addressed one of these?

My boat has normal through hulls everywhere under the waterline as far as I can tell, but does have the glassed in nipple things for the 3 holes in the transom for bilge pump and cockpit drains. In the course of repairs I had to replace a hose on one of them and couldn't get new hose onto it, the easiest solution was 2 minutes with an angle grinder to get the inside surface flat, and then I popped a proper thru-hull into the hole. I suspect I'll do that to all 3 of them eventually.

I wouldn't want that arrangement that far underwater!

Jason...thanks for the reply...a friend of mine has a '84 MKI and he has the same type as I do. i wonder if yours were repalced by a PO. Anyway, I also do not feel comfortable with this type of fitting under the waterline. I was just wondering what type of configuration the nipple had.

If you decide to grind that down let me know how that goes cuz I have the same configuration. I don't see anyway you could get an angle grinder in there such less much of anything else!!
