I have a 1995 Catalina MK II, haul 1425. I decided to replace my chain and wire, wheel break, wheel shaft and the engine control cables. In the process I observed the idler was rusted and decided to replace that too. The plate for the new idler is 1/2 thick whereas the old plate is 1/8 thick. The change in idler design by Edson was done in 2004. The change causes an upward angle of the cable from the idler to the radial. I didn't notice it until attaching the wire to the radial. I have contacted edson and am awaiting a reply. I was wondering if anyone with a 1995 Catalina ever replace the idler and can offer any suggestions. My thought is to clean the rust off the idler and put it back.
