I want to add additional track to toe rail -Advice needed

I plan to add additional track to my toe rail - mainly so I can have a true mid-ship cleat. I am not sure what to use to fasten the track to the toe rail. Does anyone know what screws or bolts were used to fasten the original track. Alternatively does anyone know what the toe rail is made from? It is solid glass, hollow or maybe a wood core? My current idea is to use threaded inserts to accept bolts.

Rick, I had a cross section drawing of that area that I got from Catalina and there is wood in there. This drawing was not specific to the 36 but was supposed to be representative of how most of the toe rails are done with the shoebox hull/deck joint. I cannot find the damn thing now!! It was accurate for our 28 but I've never drilled into that area on the 36 so don't know if it is accurate for the 36 or not.

The manual is in the technical section; page 37 shows the deck fittings. According to the manual, the outboard genoa track is fastened with " through bolt with large flat washer, lock washer and hex nut ". Doesn't say if there's wood in there, but I think I've seen a cross section somewhere that indicated there is. One way or the other, I'd through bolt it and seal the hole with epoxy as detailed elsewhere on this and other forums.

Rick, thats a lot of work for a midships cleat...I just added a nice stainless low profile midship cleat using the usual potted chamfered epoxied holes with butyl caulk...easy access to new bolts (with backing plate) in the salon after cabinets(where the fuel and pumpout deck fills are)in fact i put the new cleat right in between the fuel fill and pumpout ..that genoa track could be a leak nightmare.

Greig, could you post a couple photos, please, to show the exterior and interior views if possible?
