Hull below water line sandblasted

Had my 1996 hull sandblasted. My Pettit Trindad paint was falling off in places and under that was a crazed (I assume is) a epoxy primer. When this epoxy primer is taken off I seem to be down to pure fiberglass.
The sandblasting took place today. My original plan was to just use west marine "bottom poxy barrier coat system (a two part system) then a few coats of West MARINE  CPP ablative anti fouling paint. I watched a painting contractor do this on another Catalina 350 and he did both jobs in one day.
One scared puppy need some advise.

Sounds to me like you're doing the right thing.

I would not use an ablative here in the Pacific Northwest, but I'll leave the advice for that to someone more familiar with warmer waters.

I have and like the hard bottom paint I use but why do you say not to use ablative in the Northwest?

I believe that ablative paint is not friendly to the environment. I have used Pettit Trinidad hard since new and it is a fantastic paint...at least for our colder Pacific Northwest waters.

I stripped our C30 down to the gel coat. I removed 20 years of paint build up and then applied the two part West System barrier coat. My advice is to read the West system instructions carefully. They recommend 5 coats- each applied while the previous still has slight tack/not completely cured. If it cures, then they recommend sanding (cured epoxy has a wax that makes additional layer bonding difficult). Key point- I suggest you get some help. I did this single handed on a mild evening-75-80 degrees and was running like a madman trying to apply subsequent layers prior to full cure. I only achieved 4 coats. 

Stripping the old bottom paint was another story. You are a wise man to pay someone to sandblast it off.
