We are about to replace our Genoa, and I have found that the measurements I took of our current one vary so much from spec. that I feel I must have made a mistake in my measuring. We are too far from the boat to re-measure easily, so I wonder if anyone here has a record of their genoa luff measurement so I can get a ballpark figure to confirm my measurements are off?
Mk I standard rig
Any help much appreciated :-)

Rob,
The standard measurements in the manual for the Genoa should be correct. I needed to replace my Genoa in August and I had a local quote for approximately $2900 from my sail maker. I looked at used sails on ebay and across the many offerings from. other used sail dealers . In my search I found a website...sailnet or something of that nature and found it was an outlet for Sail Warehouse. The sail was listed for $1800 135% Genoa. The sail is a Rolly Tasker and I must admit it is a darn good looking sail. The quality is very high and it comes with 3 levels of telltales, adjustable leech, double stitched, UV cover, and comes with draft stripes. It certainly was a higher quality sail than the genoa the PO had replaced from Kappa Sails in 2003 when I purchased this boat. I did have to adjust my cars back one position so to your point there can be subtle differences in the measurements.

Thanks, Gary I think I may have found the problem: The spec. says a luff for a 135 is 45 feet, but my measurement of the old one was a bit less than 42 feet.
I've done a scale drawing of the Catalina 36 and it scales at a squeak over 42 feet from the top of the pulpit where my roller furling drum is to the masthead. This is pretty close to my measurement of the old genoa.
I'm guessing the manual does not allow for a roller system, and goes closer to the deck?
Regards,
Rob

Rob,
In the manual that is on line the luff = 45' is for a 155 genoa so the 135 would be something less.
