Fresh Water Back-check Valve

I have a 2002 MK II. There is a back-check valve (plastic Shurflo) between the water pump and the water heater.

I have had this valve go twice on me.

Has anyone else had this problem and any suggestions on a better solution than a plastic valve?

Thanks....

Any good plumbing supply will have backflow / check valves in plastic with stanless valves but, they could distort due to the hot water, they also have them in bronze with stainless ball valve that should work in hot water applications and the bronze will not suffer from corrosion. I purchased the plastic valves for my fresh water flush system I installed ACE hardware had both type valves in stock. My use was on the cold water side so distortion of the plastic due to heat was not an issue.

If can get the bronze with stainless ball valve, go with that one. Mine is bronze and have not had any issues since I purchased 4 years ago.

Chuck,

Can you explain what the problem was - did it block up or leak.
I would like to check mine.
