Entire contents of radiator in bilge

I thought I fixed this. I tightened up a coolent hose connected to the water heater and no radiator fluid in the bilge for a week. Then I left the boat for two weeks, and when I came back the bilge contained the entire contents of my radiator. I pulled the engine cover off and there are no obvious signs of a leak, but I can see radiator fluid stains running down the floor into the bilge under the galley sink area. Any ideas on the most likely culprits for such a big anti-freeze leak?

Joel, I don't know how your hoses are routed, but ours go from the engine under the inaccessible galley sole to the hot water heater under our galley sinks. A few years ago we had the same issue and it turned out the hose had rotted under the galley sole. http://c34.org/bbs/index.php/topic,3769.0.html

It's one of at least three things: the connections, the hose or the heater.

Good luck playing detective.

Thanks, Stu. Having everybody go on a long hike today so I can tear this thing apart and see what's going on.

I replaced the hoses to/from the water heater this week. The old hoses didn't look great where I could see them, but they looked much worse where I couldn't see them. If yours haven't been changed, I'd definitely do so. I used about 25 feet of 5/8" hose and a foot of 3/8" (M35A). I attached the ends with a 5/8" hose to hose fitting, then duct taped the joint and pulled the hose through from the engine side. Piece of cake. And I was pleasantly surprised how easily the hose came off the back of the water heater; especially since my right wrist is in a brace and I can't use tools worth a damn at the moment.
