Cutlass Bearing

On my list of upgrades is replacement of the damper plate on our M35B. After I remove the transmission, and if I were to remove the prop, could I slide the propshaft far enough forward that it would clear the strut to allow for convenient replacement of the cutlass bearing?

Thanks

I am not sure about pushing the shaft forward, but the C36 shaft will clear the rudder if pulled aft with the prop removed. That is the usual method recommended. The association has a loaner Cutlass bearing removal tool which may allow you to remove the bearing without pulling the shaft. Check out the "toolbox" area on the top of this page under the "Members" dropdown.
