Bottom paint in the Chesapeake Bay

I was wondering what kind of paint do skippers use in the Chesapeake Bay. Last job for me was Petit Hydro-Coat. 2 gallons only lasted 2 years.  Was hoping to get 3 years out of it.  Also, when cleaning the bottom, don’t like the sight of all that paint coming off, so was thinking hard paint again.  I also have to raise the waterline, soIm leaning towards hard paint this time.

Also, does anyone have experience with that ultrasonic hull device to help stop growth on the bottom?  I’m in a remote area, so looking for the most out of the bottom and reducing haulouts.

The boat is based in the Northern Chesapeake. Micron CF(an abaltive like Hydro-Coat) was applied last spring and coverage is still looking good. I plan on a bit of touch up this spring, not a full coat.

The features of Coppercoat bottom paint sound applealing (10+ years) but the cost of initial prep and investment in paint are significant.

If you haven't already, do a site search on this topic. I recall reading threads from several years ago.

We've heard of this stuff (Cupric Oxide) being added to a gallon bottom paint in the Bahamas but not sure what effect that would have on growth or underwater metal parts.

I looked at CopperKote. Not in my budget, and I don’t have time for it. Also my barrier coat is only 6 years old. The HydroCoat lasted 2 years, and worked great. For 2 years, I had no growth, the 2 months after the 2year anniversary, bam, lots of growth.  I really liked it, but hoping to get 3 years out of the bottom job. So thinking about Petit Trinidad SR. Any one else used this?
