Has anyone upgraded their Raymarine with B&G electronics or similar? I was told that the B&G (Airmar) transponder will not fit in the existing Raymarine through-the-hull hole and a new hole needs to be drilled? What has been your experience?

Just talked to Airimar:
1. you would need to change the entire unit out with a new DST800 (depth/speed/temp), however the size hole is the same 2 inches for that time 1999 vintage. You can leave in the depth (as backup) and replace the speed with the tri-data unit.
2. In 1999 Airimar provided the transducers to Raymarine, therefore, you could use the existing transducers, connected to a converter, to convert old analog output through N2K (NEMA2000) backbone and displays.
