Balky Anemometer

The 25-year-old anemometer on my Standard Horizon wind speed and direction doesn't like to start spinning until it's blowing something over 10 knots. Direction vane works okay.

Has anyone had luck with lubing it? If so, with what? How long did it last? Crowding 70, my days of going up the mast are in the past. Hate to invest in a rigger if that's just a waste of time.

Failing that, does Standard still support this unit, or does someone know of a source for a replacement transducer? Maybe there's an unused spare laying around in a dock box that still works? Happy to pay a fair price plus shipping if greasing the shaft on that little beauty isn't likely to work.

Appreciate the advice anyone has to offer.

Thanks

Just after I bought my boat the wind direction/speed stopped working. I called Standard Horizon and they were pretty responsive; it sounded like they could repair the unit, including replacing the transducer. For a varierty of reasons, mainly my display was almost dead, I decided to replace it with a Raymarine unit. I'd give them a call.
