The air hoses going from the engine bay to the stern have ripped and stretched at the join to the external fitting in the lazerette due to weight of gear stored in the lazarette. I have three questions. 1. Has anyone else had this problem? 2. I would like a more robust hose. Can anyone recommend an alternative to the original hose. 3. This area is a bit cavernous and I would like shelving installed. Has anyone done this? And what configuration works best particularly when heeling etc? This may have been discussed previously but I haven' found it.

I have a 2004 of the same boat. When I purchased the boat the surveyor said the hoses should be replaced. They had not yet fallen apart or ripped, but the surveryor noted that piling fenders or dock lines on them was enough to collapse the hose. That spring I happened to be a the Experimental Aircraft Association where one of the vendors was selling duct hose for airplanes. Very high quality stuff that cannot be crushed. My Mk I has shelving in the lazarette. The propane locker is on the port side, a shelf that I use for flopper stoppers, lunch hook, and other gear is on the starboard, and the middle third is open to allow for free movement of the quadrant and to access the bottom of the space, where more gear is stowed in fruit crates.
The heeling of the boat surprisingly has not been a problem even though there are no fiddles on the inboard edge of the shelves. I expected to have to install a barrier (the shelves were on the boat when I bought it) but even in extreme heeling the items I have there stay put.

I just replaced my bilge blower and noticed that the hoses need to be replaced soon. I am considering one of these reinforced hoses from Shields, either the Series 450 or 460.
