Hello all, Just ramping up for an exciting 2 season racing CorkScrew and I want to install a (proper, and not temporary)topping lift in the mast. I understand that there is a conduit for the masthead wiring that runs along the leading edge. Any suggestions. Thanks

I run the second jib halyard as a topping lift, all the way from the top of the mast. No problems, and it will serve as a spare halyard in an emergency. If I really wanted it to come from a lower point on the mast, I could just add a halyard restrainer (like the one you have for your jib halyard on the furler) further down the rig. But the masthead setup actually keeps the loads the lowest on the topping lift due to the angle.
The conduit in the mast was the main reason I did not add a separate topper. If I was going to do it now, I would probably put an exit slot in the mast offset to one side, then hang a block above it as close to centerline as possible.
I did buy a nice exit sheave but then found I had nowhere to put it due to the wire conduit. I like the dual-function of the halyard/topping lift though.

Awesome advise, Thanks!
Hi I had the dealer install mine about 2/3 up the center of the forward side of the mast it seem that their is a place for it. this works fine and is led aft to the cockpit so the main sail handler can do the pole up and down as the bow man needs.
