Lake Texoma Racing

Just a few updates on the Texoma Racing Program...

Our club has made some changes this year to the racing program. We have gone from 2 races per day to three. This shortened the series on the calendar and still provided the same number of races.

By doing this we were able to fit in a few destination/overnight (out on Saturday, meet for dinner, and race home on Sunday) races during the summer. These will be pursuit starts in hope of getting more people to race. Also we are trying a few two day regattas in hope of getting more boats in from off the lake.

We did open our racing up to non-sailing club members but these entrants will pay a much higher fee to race.

This year we formed a "Leisure Class" which is restricted to roller furling mains.

Our current series is the Icebreaker and concludes this Saturday. 12 boats in 2 fleets. 6 in Spin and 6 in working sails.

After a two year break from racing our boat, we are back in and working the rust off. Our cruising fleet has a much less of a PHRF spread than the spin fleet so it is tight racing.

Here is our race schedule/results...

The big event is next month. Texoma Lakefest Regatta. This is a 4 day charity event (Serving Make-a-Wish this year) that is open to all sailors. It has a corporate sponsor race on Thursday followed by 3 days of racing with dinner and dancing at night. Texoma Sailing club has hosted this event for over 25 years. In strong years we have had over 100 boats competing. Fleets range from spin, working sails, one designs, and multi-hulls.
