Hi,
I use to race Eureka singlehanded, Actual sails inventory includes North Mainsal, Genoa (145) laminates, two North asymmetrical G1 & G2. Plus a Yankee set in an inner stay when wind builts up.
With the 145 I can sail until 18/19 AWS, then I have to reef the Genoa, but performances are not ideal with a furled sail.
Well, I would like to order a 135 Genoa that will allow to reach the 22/23 AWS full sail. But I'm getting negative response from different sailmakers consulted. They all argue that because of the geometry of the 36, I will not be able to point at the same TWA, As with the 145. Because the 135 will overlap the spreaders, but not enough so the clew will not come closer to the centre of the hull, as the 145 does.
Saying this, I see that 135 Genoa is offered by difference USA sailmakers and Cafalina direct.
So, I will really appreciated your comments on this issue.
All the best from the Mediterranean.
