Wow - First Sail

Ok folks, sorry to keep carrying on, but in spite of all positive feedback I had no idea what a beautiful yacht the C36 is in terms of sailing.

Took my new girl out today for the frist time in tame 5 kt NNE winds single handed. I was seeing 3.0 SOG flying my 125 headsail only, then I raised the main. Turns out it was a J29 tapered racing sail, all of a sudden I was clocking 4.5 kt and pointing closer to wind than I ever did on my C22. Cant explain it tonight since I've been in the slip only long enough to get some steaks on the grill and have had no time to review the technical's of our "first sail".

So wow. Wow and wow. I'm starting to understand the passion and love all you sailors have for your boats. I fell in love (again) today with mine. I'm so blessed and could never have imagined such a dream being a reality.

To quote: "Sailboats are the closest things to dreams that hands have ever made"

Glad to be aboard with you folks. Maybe one day I'll actually contribute but for now am just a star-struck groopie in love with the rock band called C36 :D

Peace,
Maze

Yep, ya' gotta love the enthusiasm, especially when so many of us have our boats laid up waiting for spring.

Yeah, I know. And so you all know, I listened. I may not have believed, but I did listen.

I'm still a bit intimidated single handing this girl, but like I said from the start... this is my boat for years to come until I retire. I guess I'll get it to the point of controlled chaos sooner than later.

FWIW, there is a friend of mine, one of those grumpy CG masters that teaches ASA courses. He swears that if I can get from point A to B in this crazy lake environment when I want to, then I can sail pretty much anywhere I want to go. I don't believe him either. It will be a while before I can actually test that pearl of wisdom. ;)

Until then, its all about working with what I've got. Again, glad to be aboard with you all.

Peace,
Maze
