There is a small water filter before the fresh water pump. I wanted to clean the filter (I believe it is washable) and tried with difficulty to open the filter to wash the element, but could not twist it open. I'm afraid of breaking the thing so I thought I'd ask if anyone knows which way it opens or has a picture of the filter when opened.
thanks

I removed mine and twisted it open. I believe it turns counter clockwise. And yes it is very difficult. There is a screen inside and it was filled with a large amount of disgusting gunk. Cleaned it off, put the filter back together and put teflon tape on the threads. No leaks and a much happier pump.

You may need to take the black connector off to free the clear filter due to the amount of hose (lack there of) coming from your tank selector to the pump.
I would also remove the aerator from the galley faucet and clean it or replace it. I bought mine at home depot for a few dollars.

First time I took ours off I had to unscrew it off the pump and take it home, put it in a vise (padded) and take it apart. As said before, it's just a half turn to get the housing apart and get to the screen inside. Since that first disassembly though I can take it apart in situ. Our pump makes good pressure but takes forever and a lot of fooling around to prime whenever I open it up, we have a spare I think I will change it.
