V Berth Hatch Screen

For years we have struggled with maintaining a screen for the trapezoidal lewmar hatch in our v berth.  The PO had glued strips of velcro around the outside edge and velcro glued onto the screen.  This will work but it is not ideal.  To my knowledge, Lewmar does not sell a screen to fit like all the other hatches in the boat.  Any help or ideas?

Catalina sells a screen for it.  I bought one a couple of years ago at the store in Largo, Fl.

Thanks for the info.  I had not call Catalina thinking too many years had passed.  I did call Catalina Direct and it does sell the entire Lemar trim kit, including a screen, for the trapezoidal hatch.  It was explained to me that Catalina used this hatch in a number of boats, both smaller and larger than the 36.  Apparently, at the time of manufacure, if the factory didn't believe there was enough room for the trim kit, it bypassed that step.  Did you just replace a screen or did you get a trim kit as well?  I will follow up with Catalina parts.  Thanks again.

We bought the kit from Defender. Our boat didnt have it originally and it was a tight fit between the cutout and hatch frame. I needed to rebed the hatch anyway so with the fasteners removed was able to manuver the trim piece into place. Denfenders picture doesnt match the product.

I did talk with Catalina and was told that because of the age of our boat and the fact that it was manufactured in California, it was not possible to search any records about the v-berth hatch.  I then reexamined the hatch and noted that the hatch assembly was one piece inserted from the top and attached to the hull,  In order to install a lewmar hatch trim kit, the entire, original hatch assembly would have to be removed, including the "sides" that fit down into the hatch cutout in the v-berth roof. There would not be enough room to insert the trim kit up into the cutout from below.  I am unwilling to go through this process, and the related costs, when, in the past, velcro worked.  Since then, I have ordered a screen that will cover the v-berth hatch from the outside from Defender.  Thanks all for your comments.
