Swim Ladder

Ahoy,

I am trying to clean and remove the rust my swim ladder.  The rust is at the rivets on the steps.  I thought I would remove the steps by drilling out the rivets and replacing them with stain steel rivets.

Has anyone had any experience this issue?  Thanks!

I don't have the bottle in front of me but there are products that remove rust from hard to reach spots like you mention. just brush it on, wait a few minutes and flush it off. I use it around the stanchion bases and it works well.

Google rust removers or try doing a search on the West Marine or Defender websites and I'm sure you'll find the product. The only caveat is the temp haas to be around 70 degrees as I recall.

It's called "On & Off" and is available at most marine supply stores. That's what I've used in in past. It doesn't take much. Dab a little on a sponge, apply to the rust areas and rinse with plenty of water a few minutes later. Wear gloves, eye protection and don't inhale the fumes.

Bar Keepers Friend, liquid. Squirt on and let sit for 10 minutes or wash off. Buy at Walmart or Ace Hardware
