Looking for suggestions on types of SSB receivers to buy. I am interested in hearing weather radio info off the Sonrisa and Chubasco net in Baja, Mexico. I do not want to install a full SSB unit, just interested in "lurking" to the local nets in Baja.
Thank-you

The best forecasts for the Baja are also available on the internet at http://www.wunderground.com/blog/Geary. (Sonrisa Net) All of the VHF Cruiser-nets at the various marinas have local weather reports. I do not have a SSB only VHF and have had no issues getting decent reports.

Over on another sailing forum this Sony SSB receiver seems to get a lot of attention:

It's widely available, likely at better prices. Google is your friend.
