Safety / MOB gear

What is everyone using for MOB gear and how is it mounted on the boat?

This weekend we had the Southern Straits race in Vancouver, predicted winds in the 45 knots range for a couple hours, actual conditions had it gusting high 50s for most of the day. 2 rigs broke, lots of injuries, a few MOBs, and a very fancy custom 27 footer sank!

Got me thinking about my safety gear. I went down and figured out how to connect my GPS to the DSC on my VHF. But looking at the MOB gear on the back of the boat got me thinking about what I could do better.

Has anyone got pics of their MOB pole installation, life rings, etc. on the back of the boat? i am considering a thru-transom tube for a MOB pole like a lot of '80s race boats used to do.

MOB Pole: piece of PVC tube at the base, drill holes in it, use cable ties to connect to the pulpit stanchion. A PVC cap at the bottom keeps the base of the pole inside. Simple.
