Greetings,
I'm not a big fan of the rubber rub rail. While it protects the hull, it easily scratches and it's difficult to keep it looking nice. The newer Catalinas have a molded rub rail with stainless trim. Has any of you changed your rub rail to the newer design?

Our rub rail was pretty bad but cleaned nicely with a heavy grit drywall open mesh sanding sheet. Maybe an hour or two of effort for the entire boat.

Another easy way to clean is to use lacquer thinner as it is not too harsh or acetone for more cleaning strength, than you can polish
