Hi folks, A few months into owning Escapade and still sorting some “where’s and what’s” Question about reefing line setup (I did search the forum but no threads that really cleared it up for me): There are no “horns” typical to a slab reef setup. I saw mention on another thread of a separate line to use to secure the luff cringe to boom. Another thread mentioned a single line reef setup (which I’m inclined to believe is what mine is meant to be) my current setup (how I got the boat in the spring): reef line from port cockpit forward through deck organizer to a block at base of mast, then up through a fairlead. From there it’s an awkward angle to the starboard side of boom and into an opening there to travel aft (see the pics— I can’t seem to rotate them so hopefully it makes sense). It’s telling that, where the line enters on that starboard side of the boom, it’s not riding the sheave which supports my “this isn’t correct” conclusion. I “think” that I’m supposed to instead run from the fairlead on port side, up through luff cringe, then down to that opening in from of starboard boom and ride under the sheave to then travel back through the boom. Is that correct? If that’s correct, then I guess I need to pull the line back through the front of boom (with a guide line trailing behind) to rerun stuff. And then at end of season when sail needs to come off , I just pull the line forward leaving the guideline secured in there for yanking back through in the spring? Curious if that’s how folks do this or if I’m missing the obvious here Thanks all, Brad
